just wondering.... on a 1.6..... how long does it last on hard street driving....... asking cause my tranny bearings are getting so tired...... maybe I will replace my tranny this summer...... need to know if I will need to replace the clutch as well.... don't want to remove the tranny to then discover that I need the clutch to..... don't want to lose my car for a day.......

Well, if you are replacing the tranny, you'll want to replace the clutch anyway unless it's brand new...the $200 in parts is well worth the piece of mind, plus you won't have to pay any additional labor...

It's kinda like replacing the water pump when you change the timing belt--you might not necessarily need it right away, but why pay labor twice for the same procedure?

edit: and the clutch will probably last 100-150k km depending on driving style

thanks guy for reply's, but keep in mind that I will do the job myself (mechanic at a Nissan dealer)...... and since changing the tranny will take me about 3 hours max..... I don't mind changing the clutch a year later........ but not 3 months........so if you are telling me before 100000 km no problem....... I will keep it........ I'm only at 85000km for now......... Neter... what year model for the JDM tranny??????? how many clics on it??????? it bolts right on??????? any mods to make??????? help plzzzzzzzzzzz that's sound really great.................

This depends if u really know how to drive standard cars. Everyone say they know how to drive standard cars and then there clutch went. If u are really good at driving standard cars and u don't race with your car it should last u 400.000km. Most ppl make it to around 150.000km. I've never heard anyone made it to 400.000km except my auto teacher told us. That's how long they should last though. I would recommend u machine the flywheel and changed the clutch too. 85.000km is like average. It will save u a lot more $$$ in the average time. Depends how long u want to keep the car. If u'd plan to keep the car for a long time then change it. If u plan to keep it for less than a year then don't bother changing it.
