I just bought a CSX and when I try to brak on snow the ABS kick in and prevent the car from stopping. It feel like I am braking on ice. Do you have the same problems? It is not my tire I had them on an other car and it was breaking perfectly! I talk of thes problem with one onf the acura mecanic and he acknoledge seen this on many CSX.

That's the nature of ABS. you have to used to it and judge the distance enough to stop your car accurately. ABS sux when you try to break going straight forward, but it's good when you do turn and break at the same time.

Sometime to help my ABS I pump my break pedal few times while skidding ...

Its true that a car without abs stops faster in snow, because the tires lock and dig in. As dim said however its better for braking and turning.

Are you running the stock Goodyear RS-A's? If so, they are not the greatest tire in the snow so expect the ABS to kick in on snow covered roads on occasion. Just remember to keep the brake pedal pressed down when it does kick in to get the best stopping results.

Aren't you defeating the purpose of ABS if you're pumping your brakes? It specifically says to hold constant pressure when ABS kicks in or it won't work effectively.

Just unplug the fuse for the abs if you don't like it. Live with the dash light being on and connect it again in the spring. Lots of people do it, especially the old giesers that didn't grow up with new-fangled gadgets on their Model T's
